As you may already know, I love looking at old photos and relics from my grandparents. My nonna has been passing snippets of the past to me in many ways and I think it makes her glad to see me delving into their personal history and enjoying the stories that come with it. As part of my sister's history project, she had to find old pictures of her grandparents and their weddings. I'm still waiting on the photo from my dad's side, but my nonna was more than happy to oblige. Behold:
My nonna and nonno were married at St Fiacre church in Italy, on the 19th of October 1957. My nonna would've been about 25 in this picture, my nonno 26. I wish I could see the hairpiece/veil she was wearing, I'm sure it was divine. The other thing that delights me about this photo is the handbag she is holding. It looks like an incredibly similar white version of a handbag I picked up late last year at the Vintage Fair:
These photos make me glow with pride, I love being able to come across them here and there!

A Lovely Day
In contrast to the rather drab events of last week, today can definitely be considered the start to a fantastic week.
I kicked off my Monday with a fabulous 'Blogger's Brunch', in the company of the effortlessly stylish Sarah of Chronicles of an Eccentric. Having talked for quite a while it was high time we got together, and a splendid time was had by all! Allow me to present some pictures... all credit to Sarah for the photos!
I am rather envious of Sarah's fabulous hat... I'm still looking for that fabulous day hat, however I have my eye on this beauty for winter. I imagine myself skipping around Paris with a croissant wearing this furry little wonder...
Arriving home from my lovely day out, I was greeted by a package from Ebay. I've bought a new white petticoat, and despite an elastic waist that's seen better days (easily fixable) I am truly in love with my new petticoat:
In contrast to the last petticoat I bought, this one is not a square dance petticoat and seems to go well underneath all of my dresses without that dreaded 'waterfall' effect. White is one of those colours that goes with just about anything, so I can see myself getting lots of wear out of it.
To top it all off, I was able to enrol in all my preferred university courses despite an incredibly late admission, and I am now officially enrolled in Master of Policy Studies 2012! Woohoo!
Many thanks to Sarah for a great brunch and fantastic company, and I hope that the rest of my week was as enjoyable as today was.

Wish list
- money to travel overseas with
-a personal assistant to book and keep track of all my important things like driving lessons, planning my 21st, putting things up on Etsy and Ebay, keeping up to date on my Masters application...
-a new job!
and on the superficial side, perhaps this delightful jacket? As well as travel money, I would do unspeakable things to be able to afford this wonderful jacket...
A girl can dream, right?

Retro Movie posters
I've always loved the look of Old Hollywood, as have many others. I'm not going to go into whiny nostalgia, but it just ain't the same these days...
Anyway, I stumbled across these on Tumblr last night and felt like I really should share them. Artist Peter Stults has created a myriad of posters within the theme of 'movies reimagined for another time and place'. These are all current movies, redesigned as old movie posters with classic Old Hollywood actors and actresses. I think they're just fantastic, these are a few of my favourites:
These posters, along with many others, are available here.
Which Old Hollywood actors would you choose to recreate some of your modern favourite movies?

Feeling Glamorous
I had a bad week this week, financially, educationally... Let's just say things aren't quite going how I planned.
How did I compensate? By feeling glamorous with some new purchases.
As you may know, Dita Von Teese launched her new Von Follies line at Target in Australia this week, so I was first in stores to buy something. I ended up choosing a black fishnet bra and some red lace underwear, however I feel like I should complete a set, so when I get paid next week I'm going right back to get the bra that matches the underwear!
I'm highly impressed with this line! Comfy, well designed bras that are classy as anything. I don't mind spending a bit more for a well designed bra, and my friend who is not normally a Dita fan was also impressed. I'm so tempted to buy the whole range...
I also finally received a dress that I posted about a while ago, just in time for Valentine's Day! I don't usually celebrate it because I feel like it's a bit of a useless day (considering you should love your partner and treat them well every day of the year...), but if I have a chance to go out and get dressed up this is definitely the dress I will choose. I feel so very sexy when I put it on:
It must be the combination of a wiggle dress and lace... Joan Holloway, eat your heart out!
It may be frowned upon to use retail therapy to cure problems in your life, but I think that after the week I've had I'm entitled to some glamour. In the words of Parks and Recreation, TREAT YO' SELF!
